It’s the most important job on Thanksgiving Day: the cook. If you’re the cook there are a few things you should do to maximize your energy for that cooking marathon.
Alternative Medicine Consultant Dawn Burnett Webb stopped by Good Day with three little things the “cook” in the family can do to maximize their energy “day of” thanksgiving.
3 small changes for a big impact this Thanksgiving Dinner
#1 – Get enough sleep…It’s tradition for many women to get up at 5:00am and baste the turkey. By going to bed 1 hour earlier the night before, completing your Thanksgiving shopping on Tuesday and avoid over booking your schedule the day before with appointments and errands you will feel refreshed and think clearer. Your body will feel more relaxed which will increase your patience and your guests and/or family members will feel at ease making this Thanksgiving a positive experience.
#2 – Eat a healthy breakfast with protein within 90 minutes of waking, this helps to start your metabolism and prevents over eating. To save time, you can make a berry smoothie with protein powder the night before and store it in the fridge in a plastic shaker cup with wire ball in it. This way you can quickly shake it up in the morning and drink it before you baste the turkey. It’s simple and healthy.
#3 – Take a shot of fish oil in the morning. You can even mix it in your smoothie. This will provide a great natural energy boost, loosen up morning stiffness and help you to feel more focused when preparing your thanksgiving recipes.
